Our PADI Adventures in Diving program includes Navigation, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Deep Diver, Boat Diver and Underwater Naturalist. This will significantly improve your skills and increase your diving options. During the in-water training, you will undertake 2 boat dives (Boat Diver & Deep Diver at Magic Point with the sharks) a Navigation, Peak Performance Buoyancy and an Underwater Naturalist dive. The course starts at 8:00am on the first day but we will finalise the second day depending on sea conditions at the time.

The Scuba Dive Online Instructor Development Course ( PADI IDC )takes place over 4 days, 3 hours per day starting at 6:00pm. The Magic Point shark dive is a double boat dive. This site has a maximum depth of 24m but can easily be done at 15m. The site is renowned for its grey nurse sharks. Additionally, weedy sea dragons can be spotted at the sand line. If the conditions are too rough for the site, we will relocate to another location. The boat will depart at the scheduled time from the Sans Souci Public Fishing Wharf off Riverside Drive. This location is easily accessible by public transport or private vehicle. Please arrive at Abyss Scuba Diving one hour before departure to collect any rental dive gear.

Must be advanced certified. Built in 1878-9 the SS Hilda was a collier that ran between the Newcastle and Illawarra coalfields. The ship went down in 1983 after running aground and stayed in relatively good condition until being blown up for its metal in 1958. Even though the wreck is well broken up, the remains of the Hilda still roughly lie in the shape of a ship, in two separate places. There is a large winch located about ten metres to the north of the engine with part of the hull under it. If conditions make the planned site unsuitable, then another site will be selected for the dive..Transport is not included for this dive, if you require a lift please early. If no lift can be provided the best option is an Uber to and from the site.
