Local Boat Dive

Stock No. LBD
AU$ 120.00

This double boat (two tank) dive will cover a range of sites around Sydney. All our divers depart from the Sans Souci park pier, which is 6 minutes from our dive centre and gives easy access to Sydney's best dive sites.

The boat is fast and quite comfortable with a turn around of about 3 hours. Depending on the conditions it will cover a range of dive sites in and around the Sydney Harbour. A light snack will be provided between the dives. Check out our guided boat dives calendar for locations.

Tips

  • A wind / waterproof jacket is a good option to bring along
  • Don't forget to bring sunscreen
  • A beanie to keep your head warm is also a great idea
  • If you get seasick (or think you may get seasick) please take sea sickness prevention tablets before boarding the boat. There is nothing worse than being nauseous before a dive.

Note: The depth of the dive will be less than 18m unless stated then you must be certified for that depth.

It is a requirement that all divers carry a signal tube (safety sausage), if you do not own one then you can purchase one at the time of booking or on the morning of the dive. The cost of the double boat  Dive is $120 including Divemaster Services and snacks. The divemaster is there to help all divers but they are divemastering for up to 10 divers, but if you need your own private DM, then this service is available for an extra $199.

  • A 20% cancellation fee of the price of the trip fee is applicable if you cancel up to seven (7) days prior to the commencement date any local dive travel or event.
  • Where there is less than seven (7) days notice before the scheduled dive travel or event commencement date there will be no refund payable.

Note that this is not the shore dive site that we often visit. It is in the same area but this site is accessible from a boat. The reef that extends from the famous arch runs quite far South and is mainly flat with large boulders on the edge and the sand line. The site ranges from 20-35m and has lots of colourful sponges. Expect to see lots of fish life including Yellowtail, Silversweep, Blue Groupers, Leatherjackets and Port Jackson Sharks. If conditions make the planned site unsuitable, then another site will be selected for the dive.. The boat will Depart at the scheduled time from Sans souci public Fishing wharf off River side drive. This location is easy to get to by public transport or you can drive yourself.

Must be advanced certified. Built in 1878-9 the SS Hilda was a collier that ran between the Newcastle and Illawarra coalfields. The ship went down in 1983 after running aground and stayed in relatively good condition until being blown up for its metal in 1958. Even though the wreck is well broken up, the remains of the Hilda still roughly lie in the shape of a ship, in two separate places. There is a large winch located about ten metres to the north of the engine with part of the hull under it. If conditions make the planned site unsuitable, then another site will be selected for the dive..Transport is not included for this dive, if you require a lift please early. If no lift can be provided the best option is an Uber to and from the site.
