Jess Hill - Marine Biologist

Meet Jess, a passionate diver and marine biology graduate who has embarked on a journey to
deepen her connection with the underwater world. Originally from the UK but with roots in
Australia, Jess's fascination with diving began during a backpacking adventure Down Under in 2019.
Jess then pursued her interest in marine biology, earning her bachelor’s degree in 2023 from Bangor.
University in Wales, UK. Her academic journey equipped her with a solid foundation in marine
ecosystems, conservation principles, and field research techniques. She hopes to further

her education eventually, but for now, she wants to enjoy life in the ocean!
Following her educational pursuits, Jess was eager to combine her academic knowledge with
practical experience in diving. In January 2024, she returned to Australia to join our team as a
divemaster intern, motivated to enhance her diving skills and contribute to marine conservation
efforts firsthand. Since then, she has now become a part of the full-time team and will be doing her
IDC and scientific diver certifications in the upcoming months to further her experience and
qualifications.
Jess's main hobby is hiking, a passion that allows her to connect with nature's beauty and challenge
herself physically and mentally. She combines this love for hiking with recent discoveries like
bouldering, fostering a lifestyle that embraces outdoor adventure and personal growth.
Looking forward, Jess is enthusiastic about leveraging her skills and knowledge to support marine
biodiversity conservation and sustainable diving practices. She envisions a career where she can
actively contribute to preserving our oceans while sharing her passion for diving with others. She will
be running an ever-changing set of marine creature-orientated dives aiming to expand people's general knowledge and understanding of the beautiful marine life we’re very lucky to have in Sydney!
