Laura Melrose

Laura has loved the ocean since she was seven years old when she took her first breath through her dad’s regulator at a beach cleanup and then scuba diving from the age of ten. From that moment, she was hooked on the magic of the underwater world.

Laura has been a diver for her whole life, from the PADI Seal Team right through to being a PADI Pro. She has experience scuba diving in many different places around the world, including Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, and the Pacific. She is also a freediver and is learning underwater photography. She loves using photos to share the wonder of the incredible marine life that we are lucky enough to share this planet with.

Laura never believed that the magic of diving could get any better – until she discovered mermaiding. She loves how mermaiding can bring together so many things, including a love of diving, ocean care and conservation, artistic expression and so much fun!

Laura is one of Australia’s first PADI Mermaid Instructors. She loves sharing her passion for mermaiding with both kids and adults, because no matter how old we are, we must never forget how to play.

When not wearing a tail, Laura is also a dancer and a lawyer. If you can’t find her in the studio or at the office, you’d better believe she’s underwater somewhere!
