Five fun things to do while doing your open water dive courses

1. Underwater Handstands: Perform this activity in a section of the pool where the water doesn't rise above your head. Start by moving downward and bending forward. The natural buoyancy will take some pressure off of your body as you do an underwater handstand before resurfacing.
2. Collapse a tennis ball: put a tennis ball in your BCD pocket, take it down to 10m depth, take it out and see what has happened to it. It will go back to normal when you reach the surface.
3. The coke bottle trick: While diving, if you find an empty glass bottle, completely remove the sand. Afterwards, blow some air into it from your alternate air source so that it becomes neutrally buoyant and floats for 10 to 15 seconds. Afterwards, give the bottle a little upward tap; then watch as it quickly goes up to the surface before filling it with water and falling back down towards you.
4. Try the magic egg trick: Take a raw egg to one of your ocean dives and ask your instructor if he would mind taking it down and cracking it on your mask. you will be surprised by the results.
5. Blow bubble rings: If you want to create a bubble, start by going to the bottom of a pool or the ocean. With your lips pointing upwards and perpendicular to the surface, fill your cheeks with air from your lungs. Once they're full, expel the gas quickly into the water and close your mouth behind it; this will cause a sharp short bubble to form.
