Becoming an open water diver is not an easy thing to do, but once you get there, it will change your life forever. Here are some tips on how to get started in scuba diving and become a certified scuba diver so you can start swimming with the fishes.
What is a Scuba Diving Certification?
A scuba diving certification is your passport to extraordinary experiences that create a better planet. A scuba diving license identifies you as an underwater explorer and ambassador for the ocean. A scuba certification course is much more than just learning how to explore the underwater world safely. It’s a fantastic way to reconnect with the natural world.
What is an Open Water Course?
PADI’s Open Water Diver course is the most widely known (and respected) scuba diving certification program in the world. Taking it will make you a certified scuba diver in as little as two days. Once certified, you can Scuba dive with a buddy, rent or purchase diving gear and get air fills at local scuba shops and resorts.
What are the physical requirements to be scuba certified?
To enroll in a scuba diving course, candidates must be at least 10 years old, able to swim, and in good physical health. In some countries, you may need to attend a medical with a physician, but in Australia, candidates are just required to fill out a medical questionnaire, and only if this questionsheet raises any issues are you required to get a medical from a doctor.
What happens during a scuba certification course?
The scuba certification course is three phases, knowledge development, confined water training and open water training dives.
