Course Highlights:

  • Day 1: Audit RAD course
  • Day 2: Theory presentation and afternoon dives with focus on skill circuit and rescue procedures
  • Day 3: Academic presentations followed by teaching and knowledge presentations, preparing for open water teaching presentation
  • Day 4: Written final exam, knowledge presentations, and open-water presentation

Become an Avelo Pro Candidate:

Avelo Pro Candidate prerequisites

  • Must be an active and insured (where applicable) open water scuba instructor.
  • Proof of swim test 400-meter swim in less than 15 minutes, 10-minute tread (last 2 minutes with hands out of the water)
  • Must have a minimum of 10 Avelo dives.

Avelo Instructor candidates must

  1. Have shadowed at least one RAD course (with at least two students).
  2. Provide proof that they certified a minimum of the following standard scuba certifications:
    • 75 total of either OW, AOW, freediver, rescue or their equivalent (5 DSD's equals one OW

Or

    • 50 total of either OW, AOW, freediver, rescue or their equivalent
    • 25 Avelo-guided divers (minimum of ten before the class) *

Note:
If an instructor does not have the required certifications and/or guided dives but feels they can achieve those within six months, they will be able to take the Avelo Pro class. Once they achieve the necessary qualifications, they will be able to contact their Avelo Instructor Trainer to have their Avelo Instructor certification activated. If they do not achieve the requirements within six months, they will need to either repeat the Avelo Pro examination or the full Avelo Pro class (at their expense) which will be determined on a case-by-case basis.


*If an instructor has more than fifty total certifications, but less than 75 the guided divers will be adjusted based on the difference, so if an instructor has sixty certifications, they will need 15 Avelo-guided divers, etc.
